Is Hodgson the new Griffin, or is it all about pace?
.... maybe Pritchard + Westerman with the £175k marquee cap limit for Pritchard fitted under the cap.
Now Westerman has gone, the £175k may not be needed (at the moment) so we're currently at full cap.

Cup Winners: 1914, 1982, 2005, 2016, 2017. Cup Runners-Up: 1908, 1909, 1910, 1922, 1923, 1959, 1960, 1980, 1983, 1985, 2008, 2013. League Champions: 1920, 1921, 1936, 1956, 1958, 1983. League Runners-Up: 1957, 1982, 1984, 2006.
The full question and answer was:
JS: You seem delighted with the squad, but there's talking of adding another player following Joe Westerman's departure. Where are you with that? AP: We are always looking to add one more, but at the minute we are at the cap limit and we have to be careful in what we do. It certainly looks a powerful squad on paper. Quite an ambiguous statement from Pearson, but always better to post the full thing.

I understand we are leaving a sum aside as well for the loan market should we need too. We would of used it last yr only we didn't leave anything spare to do so

Because we were breaking the cap with him on board and it was always the intention to release/sell him?

But the cap is live though, isn't it?

Ok then we would be in a position were we would be breaking it when the overseas players signed were on contract and being paid. We didn't actually break it as Westerman was released before that point

Possibly, I'm not sure. I had assumed that the cap being live means that the future cap spend is monitored too, in this instance 2016, but maybe not.
It could be that the 2016 cap is only 'live' and monitored from say the 1st of November, due to the player registrations for that upcoming season, and the club knowingly went over the cap momentarily for 2016, knowing a player could be released/sold/de-registered in time.

.... I'm pretty sure the cap year for 2016 starts tomorrow on the 1st December.

'Thus I am tormented by my curiosity and humbled by my ignorance.' from History of an Old Bramin, The New York Mirror (A Weekly Journal Devoted to Literature and the Fine Arts), February 16th 1833.
It is your forum tonight, innit?
Here's a polite and non-partisan cap-related question, if anybody fancies asking it:
'Adam, you're quoted in today's HDM as saying 'It's an expensive squad we've built'. Are Hull FC spending more on player wages than in previous years? Do Hull FC, or other clubs, manage the cap by temporarily de-registering players?'
