i thought today, it showed we have zero structure or system in attack. Granted Tony Smith's hands are tied, but there's no excuse for ,not implementing a basic structure. Defensively, we are appalling, the only reason I can think, that Houghton is constantly selected, is because he's the only player capable of tackling below the knees on a consistent basis. The only other 2 players who are prepared to bend their backs are currently injured which are Fash and Cator. The opposition constantly make easy yardage, because too many players are grabbing at the chest area, as the old saying goes "Can't run without their legs". Personally I would like to see Nu Brown at 9, move Houghton to 13. Hoy to 6. If Smith was to leave, the only 2 in this country, I would consider is Wane & Rowley., as for another NRL unproven assistant, I don't have any confidence in the hierarchy to select a suitable replacement.
Nu Brown knew he was coming here to play as our half back when we signed him. Judging by most reactions, then he needs to start doing better at the opportunity he was given and accepted.

I just think he's not a natural half, not doubting his talent or willingness. I know most teams do it, but I don't think it helps him that we play with split halves.
Slept on it and watched the highlights this morning, I couldn't face watching the full game yet.
Wish Smith would have been honest about Hoy, no way based in performances should he have been dropped, particularly for Charles, he has looked our biggest threat at halfback before todays game, so either he has been a naughty boy or Smith is losing it. It's a real shame as with Hoy at 6, think he would have run riot with the space given by London and our offload game.
On to the game, I'm not sure the London halfbacks will kick that good again this season, they attacking kicks were near perfect.
Sao shouldn't have offloaded but shouldn't have been put in that position my Smith, he should have taken control and kicked, as someone has mentioned, Smith isn't the answer long term, but is a decent backup half and hooker.
Not much more to be said that already hasn't been said, there were some positives, but lots of negatives.
Last thing and this has annoyed me a bit, the mention on social media form Hull and other fans about us celebrating the win, we scored a last minute try to win our first game in months, we have 18 year on debut, a young kid scoring his first try, what do you expect the players to do, I'd have been more worried if they hadn't celebrated that try and win.
Well that was hard work to watch and it was hardly Saints or Wigan we were playing, but a team that many pundits predicted wouldn't win a game all year. The fact we actually managed to win a game in the last minute has to be a plus but otherwise we just played dumb rugby, ran down blind alleys and read the game poorly. Today I think any other Super League club would have beaten us easily. Yes we have injuries and suspensions but it's hardly inspiring is it? It's going to be a long tough season and one that would threaten our coach under normal circumstances but with the coach we have who else do we get. Getting rid isn't the answer. Whether its our financial situation or what I don't know but we have let so many good players go and today showed that we haven't replace any of them like for like. we have some good youth but without some real inspiring father figures out there they'll eventually struggle. particularly when they re surrounded by colleagues who show a lack of any sort of direction. Catalan will be tough indeed. sadly and rather embarrassingly I like many on here have never felts so low about a season.
I get what you’re saying but I don’t feel the same. I enjoyed the contest today albeit at a lower standard but I see oases of hope in Morgan smith,Walker, Nu Brown, and the younger players coming through. Confidence is a galvanising thing and there can’t be much at the moment. I think this win is a start. I thought though no world beaters London were ok- structured hard working and spirited. I feel there are lots of nuances to come in the season and they will benefit us to kick on from. And I’m glad it’s TS who will harness it all. That said I wish we had 3 from 3!

Don't know what it is about Okunbor. I think it's because looks like a lazy player and at times quite lost of the pitch. Doesn't run the ball in with much conviction. I've been defending him so far and I still think he has the physical attributes to become a decent player he just needs to work harder and apply himself more. But then I look at the stats and he was our 4th highest tackler. Made more metres than Lane, Brown, Staveley. Average gain of 8 metres which isn't bad. I think we need to give him the ball more because even when he runs lazily he can make good metres after contact. First kick of the game we went high to him and he easily got above the defenders was just unlucky not to take the ball in. Not sure why we're not kicking to him more regular since he will have the height advantage against just about anybody he's lines up against. Maybe he's just not calling for the ball but other players are. I don't know. Wouldn't be against trying him on the wing if the chance comes up but I think Mcintosh has started really well to be fair to him, and Martin and Tindall will be battling out the left wing spot.
