| Quote The Dentist Wilf="The Dentist Wilf"I have a lot of time for the local media correspondents who have a difficult job and I happen to think that the last Rovers correspondent was pretty good but this guy Appleyard seems to be totally insecure, what a pretentious and pathetic article that is, I can't believe any of us ever believe that to be the truth and a lot of fans I've spoken to hadn't even heard it as a rumour. Ive seen it on here a couple of times and it's been laughed out of court by the others on here. No one gave it any credence at all. Our Mail correspondent is passionate about our Club and indeed a long term fan but he doesn't need to stray into trying to make the news 'al a' a tabloid journo. Appleyard needs to learn that what goes round comes round and before you make such stupid claims, you should think just how long 'the accused' will remember them. He will be so pleased that we are even talking about it because quite frankly he's invented it to poke the 'Anthill' at a time when he should be busy relishing the weekend and celebrating the fact that the team he reports on is in a massive game, perhaps their biggest for years. Quite frankly I think it's hilarious!'"
Just read Dave Woods article about Leigh and the Lam connection, this Appleyard idiot certainly needs to read it and see how an experienced journo goes about his trade in the lead up to a Wembley final, he’s an absolute disgrace, I bet even part time Mild Rover could do better, if he could spare his time from this forum BBC Sports page if anyone’s interested, don’t know how to provide link.

| Tomlinson reckons 8 new signings. 4 overseas, 4 domestic.
Shaw confirming Clune signings for Hudds, would Russell be worth looking at? Young domestic scrum half, not sure he is creative enough, but is controlling with a decent kicking game?

Watson seems to rate Russell pretty highly, but hudds will have the same problem next season as they do this. 4 doesn't go into 3.
Do wonder if Watson stays at the Roosters, we might look at Drew Hutchison as an option at 7

He'd go very well over here , but does feature a lot for them and has a physical presence too. I'd say he would definitely do as well, if not better than Clifford, not pacey but he can see a play and has a great passing game, would love to get him but think he'd have a few NRL suitors as well, if he became available. Jordan Abdul , but without the injuries is how I see him.

Not a 7 IMO, utility player.

Equally he’s an Aussie half with no allegiance to any super league club. He’ll go where he’s offered the most money. Theo fage was on ridiculous money and it’s his replacement.
So there is a good chance hudds offered more than both Hull and Leeds considering we have to manage our cap space over 8 signings

Not much else available unless we can get someone who's under contract.
Suppose the worse case scenario is we don't sign a 7 and go with Hoy

That wouldn’t be a terrible option. Trueman looks a real player and Hoy would be a running threat.
I’m sure Tony Smith will sort it somehow.

| Said before that Grix will most likely have recommended a few championship players. Josh Woods would be a decent signing.

| Really interesting comments by TS.
Saying some recruitment is being done with one eye on who is coming through the reserves/academy.
The club don’t want to block the pathways of the younger players.
Found it very positive and exciting that the club actually have a plan in place, and processes are there to support it.

| Im far from worried or panicing in all sense. Its not the end of the world if we dont win trophies next season, whats important is the powers that be build for a successful period and not season. It was always going to be a tough job and in some cases rebuilds can get worse before they get better.
When you look at the most successful teams or rebuilds they start with a blank canvass of a good core of youth players then slowly get quality added into them. Its the only way in a salary cap sport. You look at Salford with the doctors money and qithout it you just cant buy your way to the top. It has to be done right. When TS took over KR he signed plenty of young players with some experience and its only now they are in a position to add genuine top quality players into there squad.
Given it will be IMGs grading next season it would be silly to just panic buy players , weve done that far too many times. Id fully support a season bringing youth into the fold with some experience and having more cap space for genuine players to be added in 2025.
This will be a slow process but if its done right im sure it wont be long before we are regular top 6 team again as opposed to a bottom one. When you think the club are keen at mentioning youth and the right players coming in, it shows the plan is to build a strong team rather then patch up the cracks.

| I could see the possibility. The Roosters have Smith, possibly Watson and Hutchison too.
He's a very similar mould to Houghton. Solid defensively and a big engine
