New season new start.

Total bolloxs...we have said for the last 5 seasons with him....personally,i would have got shut of him 2yrs ago.

Have heard that somewhere before.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, mine is to give him a fair crack of the whip. It is a new season and if we got rid of under achievers last year we would have been left with a squad of about 4 or 5.

Maybe King hasn't performed so well in previous seasons, i cannot comment as i have not seen much of him except when they where on TV ( Due to geographical location)

He was poor on friday, but i reserve my own judgement on him till i have seen a few more games.

rather we win, then see kingy's passion, if all it amounts to is dropped balls, miss hits, yeah keep it up kingy....

Please don't take offence here and I also want to state I have nothing against Paul King personally, but its that type of comment which I find amazing.



He was too passionate to do his job properly





This idea that any locally born player is more passionate about their work is unfounded and is completely disrespectful to the other members of hte squad.



How many times did the likes of Blacklock, Sing, Dykes, Kearney et al get slated on this forum for what constituted not winning games single handedly when in reality many of those types of players, who have been there and done it, took the field whilst injured.

He had a broken jaw for the early part of last season





As I said, King was the best of a poor pack for the first 6-7 weeks (a quarter of the season), then he got injured.

i know poor kingy give him time to get back into the swing of things. if he plays badly in a few rounds give maloney a chance

Why is he poor kingy..he gets paid to do a job..if he is underachieving then he has to be dropped..I agree a few more mathes may sort it out and he may perform well.



There are many people in Hull at present who need sympathy and have no job I do not consider Kingy as one of these.



No room for sentiment in our team especailly if we want to improve on last season.

So to recap.... we have played how many competitive games this season? Erm..... count 'em..... I make it one.... erm tw.... no.... it's definitely one. I mean, I might be jumping to conclusions here but... do you think you all might be off yer heads? Just imagine you going in to work and having an off-day and you're all kicked out because you're obviously rubbish. I can hear it now "oh well that's different, he's a professional rugby league player - no room for errors - we've carried him for several seasons" etc. There's a thread on here about players we love to hate. I am amazed that it isn't full of people naming the current squad members.

Indeed but if it wasnt Paul it would be some other player getting ripped to bits by all those who could go out on a pitch and do a better job

If you change passionate to over enthusiastic then I think the point is valid. To play prop in Super League you must have incredible controlled aggression, you spend all game smashing into 17-18 stone blokes trying to win the collision!



As already stated it was Kingys first game in near 11 months and he didnt control or channel that aggression as effectively as he should. Not acceptable but certainly understandable.



For the first couple of weeks we are going to see rustiness from a few players until they get into the swing of things.

Where have I said drop him after 1 game ? Where have I said we have carried him for several years ?



Take my word for it I am not off my head!!

I believe he did not have a good game and needs to improve. I personally do not rate him he drops too much ball..You nedd to get of off your high horse

Thats fair enough, but for someone with a chequered past, who got a contract through the skin of his teeth, you would think that with all that pre season time, which is some years he has not had, to focus and get things 100% right come game day.



Cusack, Dowes, Radford etc were not rusty, but they have had teh same preparation time.



But we still get the apologists on here defending a particular player simply on teh basis of his birthplace. As evidence has shown in the past some of out overseas players do not get the same support. Why is that?

I would argue that the game at Leeds which King missed puts him at a disadvantage fitness and preperation wise.





I agree though that he should be alot smarter and the fact that he comes from Hull is irrelevant (or certainly should be!).

Doesnt save Radders the stick does it. Or is that cos he grew up as a rovers fan and not a Hull fan like Kingy!

I think Radford sometimes suffers for some of his less than complimentry comments about the fans

The thing is personally any criticism I level at players or any defending of players is based purely on my opinion of their form etc, all this bloox about local lads or overseas players is irrelevant to me.



King has been out for a long time, he obviously wanted to make a big impression in his first game back and he ended up being a little too revved up and it resulted in a poor game. If in 3/4 games time he is still underperforming then lets look at him.



Consequently anyone who has played well in the first game needs to be consistent and not go missing for 2/3 weeks.

Agree 100%, so long as he (and no other player) actually "costs us" a game, then they should get dropped for the next match.

That is exactly what I said as we walked away from the ground the other night. I must admit I am not a lover of Kingy and never have been nevertheless I do believe with it being his first game back his eagerness to impress was possibly his downfall !

The blokes got his timing wrong thats all. These big hits come off and the fans and the players lift massively ala Korkidas last season.



Every side needs a player with a bit of a mean streak in them and Paul King is the only player in our squad that can live up to this.



Anyone defending him is accused of doing so purely because he's a Hull lad. Absolute rubbish! Many people find themselves defending players mainly because they're embarrassed at how vindictive some of their own fans can be towards certain players.
