Speaks volumes of how far standards must have fallen to see this level of activity. Coaching team removed and a potential mass exodus of players. What on earth has been going on? I always thought Tony Smith was practically a dead cert to leave Hull in a better place than when he arrived.
If Hull and a potential new investor are willing to fund an overhaul of the squad (along with various severance packages) then I'm personally not sure Nu Brown and Tex Hoy would have been the players I'd have started with. Both I would imagine would be assets if they had a coach they got on with and a more positive mindset. Okunbor, Tuimavave, Houghton and Sao would be at the top of my list to go although in fairness its likely Hoy and Brown are the big earners in the squad along with Trueman. A scrum half and a couple of backrowers would help but I'm not convinced mid-season recruitment will be the panacea - partly because recruiting quality players at this stage is extremely difficult but mostly because the main area to address is the defensive mindset. The team is soft at the moment and lacking in any passion, desire or even self-respect.
I'd be more than happy to see Wane go to Hull only because I know he would turn it around there and Super League isn't strong enough for a club as big as Hull to be as poor as they are. Can't see it happening though so more than likely they'll have to take another swing at an assistant wanting their first head coach opportunity.
