Then you're totally bonkers. He's nowhere near a first choice spot of any kind. He's well behind just about every one of the players you listed below your first choice 13.

For someone who can't wait to say just how mediocre he thinks Whiting is, regardless of the fact that he's one of the best RL brains we have, it's even more baffling that you'd start G Horne.

I agree, Standee is bonkers. Could name a few at our club, Mike Burnett for one, who would be in front of him before we even consider availability of players from other clubs who would probably be on the same wage level.

No he can play at 6 or 13. Paul Cooke has no more pace than Rich Whiting. Paul Cooke doesn't make 30+ tackles and 10+ hit ups. Rich Whiting has in the past 'owned' bigger more powerful centres despite not being a centre. The fact is he is a better footballer than Thorman, R Horne, Tony and clearly has more skill than Radford Tickle et al who have played at 13. So 6/13 whatever the guy needs to be given a role where he can make defences start thinking and making decisions like he did today against one of the league's better defences. Don't complicate the issue. He came on at FB (where he is less effective) and helped to transform our attacking options. That was demonstrable today to anyone watching. The guy should be given a pivotal ball playing role. Forget tackles and hit-ups - let's start asking questions of the opposition instead of grafting our way down the middle.

That's the best summation I've read, and I agree with 100%. The lad is pure rugby league, he must have been conceived on the pitch and born in the dressing room  .
6/13 in direct contest with Washy, I think Whiting is the better of the 2.

whiting better than washy???? Washy comes up a shade better in every area, whiting is close but just not as good. Would like them both on the pitch at the same time tbh at 6 or 13, not really fussed which way round!

IMO Whiting is the better playmaker of the two, reads the game superbly , hence all the interceptions, man if he had pace, he'd be a class centre.

Motto of the week -

It is the way of the weak to secretly bleat to those in authority rather than fight their own battles.

Disagree.

I think Washys overall skill set is better suited to LF than Whitings. Whiting is one of those players who can't command a postion, but is excellent back up due to his ability to be solid wherever he plays.

Couldn't agree more. As for a lack of pace Whiting isn't that slow and certainly no slower than Wellens who still gets rated as one of the top FB's in SL.
He looked asured and comfortable at FB, would prefer to see him there than Horne.

Has anything been said about Hornes injury?

Could we see Whiting start at 1 v Cas with Horne or Thorman at 6? Maybe Thorman at 6 and R Horne at 3?

I reckon if R. Horne is fit he'll be at full back and Whiting at centre. Want to see how R. Horne would go at centre as I think he should play there next season. He's got the pace to play there, his defence was good against the bigger blokes a couple of seasons, so he should do alright against the smaller ones. I reckon he'll be able to put his winger away too.

Cant see Graeme being moved from 3.
