I dont really see why people are disappointed. It was becoming more and more apparant that we had been trying and failing to get a big name and we were either going to sign a younger player who was unproven, or someone like this as a stop gap.

Whilst im a little disappointed myself in the signing I think people are been a little harsh on Martin who has always been, and still is, a really useful centre. Its hardly looking to the future but I think he will go pretty well next year.

Didn't Yeaman walk all over him in the latest game ? Remember listening to it and they said Martin had a poor game and got wound up in the end

Just had a look at the highlights and Yeamo and Briscoe didn't even score in that game. Martin scored though!

I dont care, Martin is no star, but hes a dependable and proven Superleague centre. I would compare this signing to when we got Domic.

Compare his stats from last year with Turner. Martin missed alot of tackles but going forward he wiped the floor with him, and that was in a terrible team.

the problem is the context in which the signing has been made, a background of AP being preparedto put his hand in his pocket and pay a fee, a background of wanting to push for the top of the game, a background of excitement and optimism.

AP would do well to consider how he has "managed the expectations" of the faithful, because he's failed in this very basic area of business on this occasion, given the rumour and mubling about the Allam's, he is on "borrowed time" as far as some fans are concerned already, and it needn't have been so, not a single season pass has been sold yet and the good will is ebbing away in some quarters.

Re: Tony Martin : Fri Oct 07, 2011 8:26 am
Disappointed with this signing however I'm trying to remain possitive and trust AP and Bomber in the hope that there is 'Method in their madness'. What that method may be at this moment in time seems unfathomable and uncomprehendable at this time to me. Only time will tell.
