Now Chase isnt coming, what is a shame I dont think we will hit the 10k season pass target unless they have another big name lined up for us, just my opinion. was hoping that Dobson,Dureau or a brough may have been the 2nd option all proven in supereague instead of a young lad or reserve player from oz.
I personally think that our play-off run could have a bigger effect on our pass sales than any more signing tbh. Winning against Hudds has installed believe that we can actually compete for the first time in 5 yrs, if we win on Saturday this will install even more belief in Gentle and the team. Plus I am sure the club will bide their time and rightly get the PR machine in full flow regarding Gareth Ellis which in all honesty is one of the biggest coups for any SL team.
One of the main problems is we as FC fans are used to mediocricy, and AP's comments came as a breath of fresh air and had got the forums and fans buzzing with excitment of what we can expect... but as it stands (if the rumours are to be believed) we are not getting Chase and we are either keeping Seymour or getting youngster in.
The point here though is that we don't know because our recruitment is not finished yet.
What we do know, since AP bought our club is: We have a better coach who gets more out of a squad he by and large inherited. We've had our first play-off win since 2007 There's been investment in youth facilities We have had Lineham, Crooks, Bowden and Green step up this year and look good, vs zero debuts last year We've brought in Gareth Ellis, a player every single SL club wanted We've already strengthened in the halves with Holdsworth It sounds like AP has overstated the quality overall we're bringing in, but I don't believe this was deliberate deception, more like over-confidence in a market he's still learning about. We tried to get Chase. A lot. That's a good thing, surely? Look what Gentle's achieved in the short term market. Binned off O'Carroll and Ellis to get in Watts, Pitts, McGoldrick, Russell, Foster. In a competition where the top club are ushering in Green and Smith as the best SL half back pairing, not sure there's too much for us at FC to be mithering about.
Because it pi$$es me off when people make this mistake all the time. It's not exactly rocket science, is it?
I know exactly what he said. What part of those comments led you to believe that we'd be after the players you named?
Thankyou Mr Moderator, I'll try to be careful, next time I make a mistake - shall I? I actually thought his surname ended in a 'S'
Pearson also stated in the interview,"Everyone knows who the quality halfbacks in SL are, there are 4 on the list, and we will get 2 of them.it was quite clear , that Seymour's position was/is in doubt.
What is your interpretation of Pearson's interview regarding the halfback situation?

Wholeheartedly agree Mrs B.
I think we as fans shared AP's over-confidence that we would sign Chase, it appears the deal has hit the buffers, and now we're back to the 'old chestnut'- missing a top drawer 7.
For mine Chase would've been the final piece in the jigsaw.
So,what happens now? Keep Seymour?????
Can't see a young NRL half coming over,as they wont qualify for a work permit, unless they have a UK/EU passport.e.g. Dane Chisholm from Wests Tigers, who allegedly has French heritage.

I dont post on here much, just passing on info i was told by someone i know who doesn't talk crap. never heard of Jacob Miller just been told he was a junior kangaroo and has signed for us, read what you like in to that.
Post from Wests forum
Re: Jacob Miller Miller is a great talent. He needs time to grow a bit.
Roosters didn't really want to let him go but he was stuck behind Pearce/Anasta/Carney. They must be spewing. This kid will end up better than all of them. I've watched him plenty in SG and NYC and his passing game is fantastic for a young kid. Same as his decision making.
Sheens will ruin him as his only gameplan involves giving the ball to Benji.

Well said. I cannot believe some fickle fans having ago at AP. He has done wonders to our club already, brought in the biggest signing in past years in Gareth Ellis, so what, we might not get Chase, it isnt as tho AP hasnt tried, he has spent thousands probably on lawyers etc, im sure he has offered other clubs thousands for other half backs. At the end of the day if we didnt have AP running our club were would we be??? I for one applaud him for the work he has done and the vision he has for the club. Im sure he will get the right people in when he can.
At the end of the day he gets in who he and PG think can do well for the club and improve us and who are available .
We are lucky to have an owner who is trying to take us forward, so what we dont get one of the big 4 half backs, he's tried and it hasnt worked...YET ! We could have a owner who doesn't have money, who doesnt want to be a top 4 team etc

My interpretation was - and still is - that we intended to sign two new half backs and we had a shortlist of 4 targets. Holdsworth was one of them. Chase another. No idea who the other two are, but I'm not going to make up a list of names out of thin air and then declare myself disappointed if we don't sign them.
It's a 3-4 year plan to get us to the top. We've done better than expected in year 1 already. The market isn't burgeoning with top quality halves and if Chase doesn't happen it's not for the want of trying. Time for some to get a grip and realise what Pearson has done for the club already instead of carping about the intricacies of recruitment. Things wont always go entirely to plan and some need to learn to live with that. The club is going forward and improving.
