“We will not accept a top eight finish as a barometer of supposed success at any point in the future whilst I am the owner of this club.

Thats why you got the Bullet Agar...Adam Pearson wants winners...not useless gits like you.

"Rugby League is a simple game played by simple people. Rugby Union is a complex game played by wankers." L.Daley 2005

If you look back at the sides that have won the competition over the last 10-15 years none of them played boring rugby and ground out titles did they?

2012 is the year I consider to be Hulls big year .If we get the recruitment wrong , On and Off the pitch then we can kiss good bye to any success for years.

Does that mean Agar will be gone before 2012?!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Until this imposter has been removed, or made to take a back seat, then I do not expect any 'big years' for the FC.

Given that Rule has banged on about how close we were to 4th, and that he would have been happy with that, though, I get the impression that unless we fail to make the 8, Agar will be retained, which will mean he's in charge of the crucial 2012 recruitment. Compare with Wigan. Noble saved Wigan from relegation and took them consistently to play-off wins, but Wigan (some might say ruthlessly) got rid, recognising as far as Noble had taken them they needed a change to actually win something. By contrast, at the end of next season Agar will have had three and a half years in charge and if we make the 8 IMO is likely to be retained, regardless of whether or not we win a single play-off game in all that time.

IMO we'll struggle to make the 8 next season unless Agar manages a significant improvement in our play. The squad is unlikely to be significantly strengthened which will mean getting better performances out of the players that we have available. For me that's the test of a good coach so we'll get to see if Agar has what it takes or not.

I also happen to think that regardless of public pronouncements or popular opinion on here, getting to finals is important to the BOD - if only because it's another income stream and a significant boost to sponsorship and merchandising sales. If Agar looks like he's incapable of delivering finals then IMO he'll get the bullet.

With our current team i would be surprised if we didn't make the 8, I could see only Bradford overtaking us from the teams that finished below us after the play offs.

I still think we make a couple of signing hopefully Westerman and a quota halfback/FB.

I didn't say that 2012 recruitment was going to be easy, just that it offers our best opportunity in some time to really improve the squad. We still have to make the most of that opportunity and IMO what we do during that recruitment/retention phase will give a clear indication of how focused on success we really are.

For me the most critical factor next season is not which players we may still bring in but how we make use of the squad that we have. Agar needs to prove that he can step up to the next level or else he needs to go.

If he hasn't stepped up to the next level after 3 1/2 years in charge he should be long gone but we all know he won't

Id say hes already involved in it,thats why there will be nowt to get excited over with new signings for next season,i reckon we will see someone come in as back up to horney, long also maybe cover houghton (grant rovelli) also someone young and british on a 3-4 year deal, and i reckon longs replacement is already sorted for 2012,this is a rumour thread isnt it :)

We haven't had Cronk on here for a bit (apart from the Hunks thread anyway). Can we resurrect that one?

While i rate Westerman, i'd rather us be offering £175K for Rangi Chase instead.
