all seems to have petered out regarding aussie forewards signing.
We often sit on signing announcements to release them as a good news story when we lose. Obviously we've won our last 3 so not had that requirement recently.
Question is have we missed out on Thompson or have the club decided on another target they think will offer more/be a better fit?
Reads as though it may well be the club that didn’t pursue things with the bit about an NRL target with also agreeing to let Hadley go.
Seems the Sao deal is done just awaiting announcement.
Heard Thompson was asking for a huge wedge - understandably given his quality and leadership - but one we didn't think it right to stretch to.
Not sure what I think about releasing Hadley. Very good squad player, strong engine and tough defender but not really one to turn a game. With Savelio, Lane and new acquisitions possibly arriving, and maybe Griffin dropping to back row at some point, perhaps we couldn't come to a mutual valuation.
He would have absolutely fitted the bill. I guess not all targets work out.
Interesting to see who the two confirmed but not announced signings are. Ligi Sao is one according to the HDM.
Maybe some news later this evening when the trade papers reveal their stories.
Kane Evan's I reckon.
Thompson to Leeds I would think to add to mellor
Depends which league they’ll be in I guess too and that’s certainly an issue as just don’t see much in Leeds and Agar has the opposite of a Midas touch as has been proven.
Just because they’re Leeds doesn’t mean they won’t finish bottom,

I think if there was a chance to sign Thompson the club would have tried to do the deal. Its probably more to do with the contract and salary demanded than finding a better fit
looks like hadley coming to us so more cap space available for you, looks like a replacement for greenwood , nothing startling but what ive seen a good defender which wont do us any harm

Leeds already have 2 marquee players signed up so unless 1 is leaving Thompson wont be on that much

He's a good player. I'm not devasted he's leaving but perhaps a little disappointed. I guess we'll have a clearer idea when further signings are confirmed.

He's a player I always saw taking Washy's role but he deserves regular rugby and a starting spot so good luck to him. The club know what they're doing.
Good player who I'm convinced will never be a great player and although I know that every team can't have 13 great players Dean has promised a lot but rarely delivered much for me. I like us not majoring on sentiment and aspiring to continue looking from better players than the run of the mill genuine guys who have been given their chance. Rovers will certainly get a hard working squad player and a nice bloke but he's hardly a game breaker for me nor now will he ever be.
Good luck to him though, I'm surprised he isn't heading to Wakey he's certainly been talking to them, as others say the proof of the pudding in the end will be who we sign to replace him.
