Yet annually on average 17,000 die from flu and that does not get reported on. Not saying covid 19 isn't a very real threat as it's a new illnesses but the over hyped way it's being reported in the media only continues to fuel the hysteria.
I think the figure for flu related deaths, annually, is 8,000 but imagine what it would be if we didn’t have vaccines, which is exactly the situation we’re all in with Covid19. Anyway, I hope you escape it and avoid the coming lockdown. I don’t see any hysteria, I see a government issuing guidelines and the majority of folk, heeding the advice. My last comment on this because I believe some of you need to wake up and smell the coffee.

Definitely my last comment on this. I’ve just been to Pets at Home to get dog food and I’m really glad to tell you all that there is no hysterical panic buying of rabbits, hamsters, gerbils and tropical fish, so there’s plenty to go round, FOR NOW!!!!
Without getting in too deep on this debate its not quite as simple as just saving a sporting club, staff at Hull FC are just as vulnerable to the possibility of being laid off, shorter hours etc and still have to pay bills, get shopping etc also the knock on affect from small businesses that rely on an income stream be it on match day or through the season from both rugby clubs is not to be sniffed at either. We are all facing some testing times not just locally or nationally but globally. My personal take is to a certain extent this Corona virus is getting blown out of proportion and creating hysteria in part due to the different ways it is being handled globally, some misleading media coverage and pretty much no one having any real solid knowledge on the virus. For many people the clubs they support be it Hull, Rovers, Hunslet, Batley or workington town etc play an important role within their communities and are to some, a lifeline.
As for Covid19 getting blown out of proportion, when the government state they want to keep the death toll below 20,000, I think you’d best start taking it serious. Alot of us are at the wrong end of our lives and have underlying problems
I clearly said to a certain extent it was getting blown out of proportion due to a lot of misinformation particularly within the media. There is still no real hard and fast knowledge of it as the experts are learning as they go along as its an unknown and with that comes a lot of speculation good and bad. the very fact that a large number people all over the world are clearing the shops of just about everything panic buying as though there will be no more is proof that there is hysteria.
It is without doubt a very real threat and I did not say otherwise.
Who are you to say I am not taking it seriously?? I also have underlying health issues and have been and am following the guidelines so I am not

Armavinit is clearly concerned for there own well being, and nobody can criticise that. BUT there is no need for him/her to criticise other people for not hiding from the world. As you say, there are good and bad news stories all around, personally I have a healthy scepticism of The Indy and The Guardian, as well as Imperial (a research University who are making headlines to gain more funding). COVID-19 is here, nobody really knows what to expect, it is all best guesses and good intentions. We (the UK) spent over £50m on Tamiflu, which proved largely ineffective, against HN51, scientists are currently using a coacktail of drugs from treating HIV in humans and a Coronavirus variant in cats to stall if not cure COVID-19,, with some success. We have many more weeks of uncertainty ahead, digging a hole and hiding in it will not cure anything, it will still be there when isolation stops.
Acquiring a herd immunity appears to be the best way forward, taking the initial stress off the NHS seems wise, seeing if warmer weather helps is also sensible.
ask yourself this (not you personally Chris71, but everyone in general, and nobody in particular), IF COVID-19 is highly contagious, why are the fountains near the City Hall still emitting fine spray, a spray that could easily pick up waterborne particulates from sneezing and pass them into the airways of anyone passing by. Why are the buses running, and the trains, we are advised to not go to crowded pubs, but ASDA, TESCO, B&M Bargains, Sainsbury's, Waitrose remain open, we are advised not to go to restaurants, but they have not been told to close., if they were, insurances would have to pay out.
it is all a huge unknown, and it seems it will remain as such for some time to come.

Well done Wakey fans. From Michael Carter Today the support from fans has been fantastic. 9 signed up for Trinity Tv. 10 people have bought 24 lines in total. And 15 people have joined Squadbuilder. All in all, raising £3490 for the Club. I cannot thank you enough.
