Wonder is the shortlist started before Smith was sacked
Been wondering that myself. Pearson said at one point that Smith's role had been on his mind for a few weeks so he's possibly instructed Myler to look into potential replacements even if he wasn't 100% decided on what to do.
In all honesty I'd rather us get the head coach in place first before we make any new signings.
Spot on I was just going to post the same thing. I just wonder if signing some season long appointments to get us by might actually put some prospective Coaches off. Lets face it you would have to be a certain type to join us in the mess we are in at present anyway, but having some short term commitments that might not suit your objectives foisted on you to contend with as well until the end of a season, could I think be off putting for some. For me we should get a couple of very short term loans sorted if we can and then major on getting a coach in ASAP so that he can appoint his own men from the off.

Regardless of our next Manager, we must prioritise a reputable Strength and Conditioning trainer, to get the squad into a competitive condition to compete in SL.

Wouldn’t be at all surprised if the prospective coach isn’t already up to speed with with Myler regarding all the signings. I doubt very much Myler will want to go out and buy/loan lots of players without being aware of who the coach is and how he wants them to play. The DOR will need to know this surely without being a lose canon with a cheque book.

Sums it up for me, in a season so far, young Lewis Martin has looked most likely to break through tackles, wether he should have been instructed to take that role is another matter, terrible defensive displays, laziness, and attention to detail in discipline very poor, the usual bad luck run of injuries, a host of negatives unfortunately.
Thank god Tony’s and Stans gone, and AP has hopefully reinvented himself, with new management all round, a different way, something just had to change, for me I was so pleased to hear of this, new hope.
Agree with regards to the strength and conditioning appointment. Surprised Davidson is still at the club considering his connections with Smith. A shame we lost Callum Christopherson to Rovers. Another who fell out with Smith.
Scrum Half, I could see us getting Russell on loan
Cant see the point now we have cover on the wing be it pretty average and all effort should be on next seasons signings and put before the new coach to sign off before coming in. the season has in reality finished but i would like to see Grix get the team extremely fit and work on a defensive structure that makes us difficult to beat so we can see what Smith should have been doing.
