There are definitely fans on here who would moan if we had appointed Craig Bellemy as DOR, would have berm he is too old, has he ever been a director of rugby.

Who knows how he will do, but om confident he will be better than Clarke, the man who gave Reynolds a marquee contract, Carlos a 4 year one, let Connor and Sneyd go for free.

People wanted change, change is happening, let's see all the pieces before we start throwing the toys out the pram.

Who ever is putting the money , if it is mylers in-law , I wouldn’t have thought they’d just appoint anybody if they didn’t. Trust them and think he was upto the job . Not when they’ll be investing a load of money, business men don’t act like that .

If we appointed an investors family member with no rugby experience as DOR, I'd be worried.

I mean, Lachlan, Donald Jr, Jared and so on, the concept of failsons exists for a reason.

Maybe Richie will be more of a Tom than a Kendall or Roman.

The other possibility is that Myler has been appointed on his own merits, Dan Tomlinson has had a WTF attack
and rationalised it all with a quick Google. That narrative is now DOA even if it is true.

I just can't see how Myler and some investment are t related. How would the conversation started, Pearson thinking we need a DOR, him thinking I know who would be perfect for the job, that ex Leeds fullback currently playing at York. If the job was advertised fair enough, but can't see where the connections between Pearson and Myler come from apart from the money man.

One thing the Hull Live article states is;

" One of those investors may be linked to Andrew Thirkill"

Could not be Thirkill himself investing but a mate/relative (daughter?)/business partner of his.
Davidson on Twitter believes Thirkill will not be investing.

At the moment, we have no director of rugby, so appointing someone to the post is better than having nobody at all.

Myler has been at 3 successful clubs as a player (wire, Leeds and Catalan) and will have an idea of how successful clubs are run and what a good culture is like.

Myler isn't the head coach, whilst he's responsible for off field matters, the head coach will have a far greater influence on the future success of the team, so whilst DoR is an important appointment, the head coach is a far more important one, and I wonder if people are over thinking how much influence myler will truly have on the day to day performance of the team.

RL is a small world. I have no idea who Myler’s agent is but I wouldn’t be surprised if it is somebody Pearson has dealt with over the years. Maybe Jack Walker or Liam Sutcliffe mentioned in passing that Myler is very intelligent and a keen student of the game.

It’s a fair point about the balance between the head coach role and the DoR. It’ll be interesting to see what type of appointment Myler goes for as an indicator of how he sees his own role. Peacock-Webster was massively different to Sheens-Peacock, for example.
