Spot on mate. Remember the Pre SL days when we had a fine array of songs/chants, when going to an away game was something to look forward to? Good times. Can;t beat the bugle either.

Its only the drummer and his mates who create what little atmosphere we have. - They do need a better songbook though.

If they wernt there it would just be polite clapping.

Oh yer don't get me wrong, I am not laying into them, good on them for making the effort in what is a morgue type arena but I just dont think they really aid the noise much, they drown any songs out with the drum. You can' hear any of the actual words. Some of the older lads still sing some of the classics though. There aren't really enough of them to resemble any form of 'barmy army' though.

I do kind of agree with you to be honest.

I just think without them there would be nowt.

Bring back the cow shed.

Though the older lads I used to go in the cow sheds with don't go anymore or take kids, or don't sit together etc etc, so its left to the drummer boy and his pals to create what little atmosphere there is.

Shame, but there you go.

Yes it is up to the next generation I feel, however hasn't really happened since our 2005 demise. Shame, I know a lot of the cow shed lads from down the town and beyond don't go nowadays for a whole host of reasons. We just don't have the type of fanbase to make atmosphere work anymore, well we do to some extent but only in moderation I feel. Like you say big shame, but there you have it.
