Well done the judes, did the town of Wigan proud and had some good players (Number 6 springs to mind). Widnes did what they needed to do and young Danny Hulme crossed for 2 on his debut. Haggerty played well as did Varks and Allen was probably MOM.

Thoroughly enjoyable game I thought despite the scoreline. Some really good tries too from St Judes. The one from the kick in particular was excellent.

What a run from Gardner too? I don't think that guy knew what hit him. I thought he had a decent game last night too. Varks too.

Really pleased Hulmey got a game and two tries on debut. If you squinted just a little bit it was like going back in time.

I think the kick was a sliced kick from the judes player, no way did he mean that.

Agreed with Gardner, he's probably the biggest winger weve ever had and i felt sorry for the lad who tried to tackle him. I have been impressed with Gardner since his arrival.

Absolutely it was.. but he won't be saying that himself this morning. Even so they backed up really well.

Considering the stick we got when he signed I was very dubious but so far he's been really decent.

I think we have some really good options in a lot of areas now if needed.
Considering we're working with £100k less the squad put together this year seems far more resilient and balanced than the one put together by McCormack last year.
Admittedly we haven't played one of the stronger sides yet so we'll see how it goes then, starting Sunday I guess, but it still baffles me that he built that squad the way he did last year.

for me dave allen had probably his best game this season, he was superb all night and led from the front. special mention to judes though, onsidering the gulf in lass and that they were psyched up for sundays game rather than last night, they were a credit to their club and thoroughly deserved their applause at the end of the game.

If my memory serves me, No 6 was Pendlebury, an ex Widnes Acadamy player.
