Rumours abound that James Coyle has been re-signed at the club until the end of the season. Some have reported seeing him at the club bedecked in team training gear.

He was only a kid when he was last here and shouldered the burden that is the weight of expectation Widnes fans have for their number 7.
The Barrow fans on the whole seem to think that he is a decent player but, if true, it is yet another barmy decision if you ask me.

Why get rid of Thacks to bring back an inferior player? What must Gore be feeling now seeing a DR signing brought in above him in the pecking order and now a fairly average championship player?

Yes coyle was at the game today in his widnes training gear so the rumour could be true.

Cheap deal until the end of the season and adds options in the halfs, not bad really.

What loving chance do our own academy halfbacks have, when we are bringing in players of this standard as the back up, which they should be?

Ex-Wigan. Enough said. Oh and Betts gave him his full Wigan debut. The sooner you get rid of the Wigan mafia the better. O'Conner is having his chain yanked by the lot of them.

I was a bit surprised and my intial thoughts were that Wigan were taking Mellor back / loaning elsewhere perhaps?

But at the end of the day he's a free signing, probably a cheap signing and we don't know if he has any first team guarantee's. He's still young for a half back so could do worse than get him into training and see how he goes.

As for Wigan mafia, it's overstated as you could fine as many ex Wigan lads in most teams plus it's not as if Coyle is a complete unknown! He's done a decent job in the Championship for Barrow so we'llsee how it goes.

Answers on the back of a stamp.Fair enough, if the club felt Thacks isn't SL standard then fine,but he still could have made a contibution for the remainder of this season.I am beginning to believe what a poster said on TIW, that at an emergency meeting to decide who was going to walk after poor results,TOC,PC or Gaskell or all of them,it ended up with Thacks and co carrying the can.Selection process phase one my arris.
