Like with just about every foible of the posh and privileged, your stand is heated by the broken dreams of orphans. Seventeen destitute fishermen lost their lives just to bring you those prawn sandwiches.

Enjoy it all, sure, if you can. I might be cold in my draughty north stand, but I have a conscience, and to me at least, that's important.

Don't get me wrong I'm a Northstander... but for one horrible game last year I slipped through the gates and lived like the Dukes, Earls and Viscounts of Halton.

Before we were fastened to one stand I would regularly swap between the clock end and the scoreboard end depending which side Widnes were attacking... sometimes the race to get to the right side was fairly frantic.

Last time I went in there I was left with the overwhelming urge to call everyone Tarquin.

It was when I got out a riding crop to strike a labourer for failing to volunteer to put his coat over a puddle for me that I realised I'd gone too far. The south stand can do funny things to you.

Why would a Warrington lad want to play for Widnes when he is probably close to a Wembley/grand final(possibly both)appearance for Warrington?

I think the point is that nobody wants Riley or Gaskell.
