Their yoof policy is outstanding. The hardest part is keeping onto them as they develop and to keep the SL rich vultures at bay. This is where Steve O'Connors money will come in handy. The future for Widnes is very bright in that regard.

It's not just that, it's about offering them a future. We can do that as we're super league bound. I know of one player who was offered double what we could pay him by a high riding super league team, but he chose to stay with us anyway because of that.

We need to develop a system whereby such poaching is somehow compensated for. I remember how cheated I felt when Salford got a super league place ahead of us with their nonexistent youth policy and they poached a few of ours and took them with. Then they had the gall to complain when Richie Myler went off to wire even though they got money for him.

Wasn't that Under-23s though? I don't expect many of them to remain in the long term vision of the club.

Be interesting how many in the reserves Grand Final team are in the U20s next year?Gore,Alex Gerrard,and Tom Kelly i know will be ok.
