The Carnegie Challenge Cup will be broadcast by Sky Sports as well as the BBC this year.
Rugby league's prestigious knockout competition has long been the preserve of the BBC, who only last week agreed a new four-year deal with the Rugby Football League, but they will now share coverage with Sky up to the end of 2016. The satellite broadcaster have shown highlights in the past but, for the first time in the competition's long history, are to screen live ties from the fourth, fifth and quarter-final rounds of this year's tournament. Sky will launch their coverage at 3pm on Saturday, April 14, with the derby between leading Championship club Featherstone and their Super League rivals Castleford. The BBC will then screen the all-Super League tie between Widnes and St Helens at 5.30pm. (borrowed from www.sportinglife.com) |
