Can I just say that the clown who started this thread doesn't speak for the vast majority of Warrington fans.
The fact he has only been watching Warrington for 8 years after once being a Widnes fan pretty much loses him any credibility anyway. Do us all a favour an go back supporting Widnes.
Cullen was fanatstic for Warrington first as a player, then behnind the scenes then finally as a coach, he'd simply took us as far as he could with his coaching ability.
We were a club on it's backside, no optimism, no pride nothing when he came into the club at the back end of the 2002 season. He gave us pride back in the shirt and dignity. The following season, which was our last at Wilderpool was one of the most enjoyable seasons I've had watching Warrington, ok we took some beatings on the road but we finished in the playoffs and we were all in dream land compared to the previous couple of seasons. There was a buzz back around the place.
After that and a year of settling in at the new ground we were a joy to watch. He raised the expectations with how he wanted us to play and the players he was signing. In the end he had took us as far as he could, which was nothing to be ashamed of because he brought us a hell of a long way. It was time for us to go to the next level. I only wish it would have ended a bit better instead of the sour note it did end on.
To compare Cullen's time at Warrington to how Widnes are now is just wrong.
Loose the insults pal, your not intelligent enough, and are showing yourself up, as you obviously did not read my piece properly.
I made a series of points comparing the teams and you have ignored them.
Your response is just a massive puff about how great Paul Cullen is.
Are you Paul Cullen, his agent, or related to him by any chance?
I did not say that I support Warrington, I said I watch them!
I live in Warrington and am married to a girl who is a long time Wire fan.
My kids were born in the town, they now support Warrington, and go with my wife and I to the home games.
I stand by the statements that I have made, and I did not mention what Cullen did for Warrington, you did.
I will go to watch who I want when I want to, and occasionally air my views on internet forums, it's what they are there for.
I dont care about his playing record, or other achievements at Warrington.
Frankly I am far more bothered about what he is doing to Widnes.
His pathetic whinge this week on BBC was justification for his sacking alone, in my eyes.
Noble and Harris at Crusaders last year, and Agar at Wakefield this managed to put together far better teams than the current Widnes one, in a lot less time than Cullen had!
Under Cullen at the end, Warrington were defensively a shambles, as are Widnes now.
That is why he got sacked!
There was also a problem of alcohol abuse by certain players, and rumours of other off the field activities.
The same problems are currently afflicting the Widnes team.
He benefited at Warrington, by having a super wealthy chairman, who let him spend, spend, spend!
Tony Smith took Cullen's loosing team to immediate success, that really proves me right and you wrong I'm afraid.
If you do know him, can you please ask him to stop making up words, and speaking in cliches, he sounds a fool!
