Very interesting footnote added to the story - NB: Since this story appeared, Salford have written to Parramatta undertaking to make no attempt to sign Gareth Hock

Why would they need to do this? - unless of course they have previously made unofficial contact, realise that they have been caught out and need to withdraw gracefully!

But if you read the comment from the Parramatta Eels football manager it's a bit of a different slant:

"There was never an offer from Salford," said Eels football manager Peter Nolan, "I got a nice email from their chairman. They understand he is contracted to us."
