Widnes Vikings appoint new conditioner : Tue Jun 02, 2009 5:07 pm  

Widnes Vikings have appointed 35 year old Mick Cassidy as their new conditioner. The former Widnes and Wigan player retired from playing after the 2008 World Cup and qualified as a conditioner during a spell as assistant coach at Barrow.
Cassidy begins his duties immediately and is looking forward to a return to the Stobart Stadium Halton where fans remember him fondly as a tireless worker.

"I'm very excited about returning to Widnes, I had a great time here as a player and I'm looking forward to passing on my experience to the current squad as well as furthering my coaching career."

Whilst I applaud this appointment it does make my mind boggle in terms of how we ever expected to seriously survive this season let alone compete with the set-up we had at season start.

Baffling training schedules
Unbalanced playing squad
No recognised fitness conditioner

Again a step in the right direction from the club in it's efforts to turn this season around. Mick'll have them shitting themselves....

Old boys club? Micks one of the most commited players of his generation, to be honest i think we have made the best appointment we could have.


He's also qualified and knows the game inside out so is fully aware of whats needed.

Great "signing" for you in my opinion and although he irritated the life out of me during his playing career (the polite version ) I would welcome him at our club without a problem. His vast experience in playing at the highest level combined with his conditioning skills will go a long way in helping your club to recovery but I fear more surgery is required first with the playing staff.

Was going to do the "conditioner" jokes but I need to wash and go outside to do the garden
