"It should have been 10 games" said Aston. "It was probably the most cowardly act I've seen on a rugby field. ....The ref's decision to halt play after the Haggerty high tackle prevented centre Menzie Yere scoring an almost certain try and giving the Eagles a potential 12 point lead. They went on to lose 44-30. If Aston can show an offence punished by more than FOUR games that is't as bad then tbh i'd like to see it! Also this 'try' nonsense, they are all joking aint they?

He has a point though. had the assault been on a Widnes player im sure you would have been calling for his head. I don't think Aston is obsessed, more like just sticking up for his players.

4 games for that assault is a let off and Haggerty should count himself very lucky.

More the 'certain try' obesession... hardly 'assault' a bad tackle yes without doubt but as I say, i've seen similar / worse that haven't had more than 4 games, sending off was the only decsion that should of been different on the day!

Haggerty should count himself lucky? The man is probably out for the season from what I'm hearing.

The issue here is not the tackle, we were all in agreement that it was bad. But the worst ever he has seen? Undoubtedly a man of his experience has seen a lot worse in his time. Lest we forget that season where we saw Mark Smiths arms pinned back by two players whilst he was punched repeatedly in the face by Rowley. And you know what the ban was for that?

Yep. Four matches.

He is going on and on about a game which happened two weeks ago now, and needs to drop it and stop moaning. He was beaten fairly. I note he isn't going on and on about the tackle on Dave Allen.

And the most laughable thing is the "certain try" he was denied, which only happened because our players heard the whistle and stopped.

Give it a rest Aston and stop whinging!

Aston is a slimy little toad. I recall an incident eight or nine years ago when a Batley player committed a late and unfair challenge on a Sheffield player. The challenge was late and an act of foul play, but was nowhere near as cynical and nasty as Aston claimed. However, he whinged and griped to the authorities so much that the player concerned (Gary Barnett?) received a massive 8 match ban.
Amusingly, in the return match at Mount Pleasant, one of Aston's Eagles angels was guilty of an equally bad stiff-arm tackle, but on that occasion he was as silent as a mouse following the match.
Like I said, a slimy little toad. He's like the skinny little turd with the bumfluff tash you knew at school, who told the teacher you'd given him the beating of his life when in fact you just punched him in the stomach for being an annoying tw*t.
