Rumour was from one of the academy players yesterday that Paddy Flyn has/is being released and that we're signing JD. I didn't believe it and still dont to be honest, great prospect IMO. Any body heard anything similar?

If that happens then someone at the club has been on the wacky backy. Which is doubtful therefore I cannot see this happening.

That’ll be good wouldn’t it?

We sign up lot’s of youngsters from SL clubs, who’ve failed to make the grade there, and get rid of one of our own ‘club trained’ youngsters who actually may stand a good chance of making it in SL.

JD doesn’t fit in with the type of players the club tend to pick up these days. Unless he’s only been given a one year contract, I find this unlikely.

In fact it all sounds like BS to me. The off season should be re-named the silly season. We’ll see I suppose.

It would be one if the most bizarre decisions ever! As said he's one with SL potential and has looked very good this year turning into arguably the complete winger with done good performances at FB too. It didn't go unnoticed around team of the season time a few opposition fans had Paddy in their choices!

Flynn signed a three-year deal didn't he? Only way he'll be off is if he wants to. Unless Saints come in for him, or he lands a really good job, then I can't see him leaving. 2011 is massive for him. He has to prove himself as one of the best wingers in the division next season, if he has aspirations of playing SL.

I may be in the minority here but I'm not convinced about Paddy Flynn, I'm not saying he's not good enough but when was the last time we saw him beat a man on the outside or outstrip the defence, or burn anyone off with sheer pace? I think he takes the ball up too often for my liking, and maybe this saps his energy too much and stops him showing his real pace when it's needed.

He's not as quick as we like to believe but his acceleration is incredible. I get what your saying but when he played with Kohe he often beat people oustide and scored lot's of tries problem was he never got ANY ball in the 2nd half of the season. None of our wingers did!

As for taking the ball up, IMO that's a damning on the other players in the squad not him. All wingers should get involved around the ruck early in the count at some stage (Nightengale for kiwis) but you need forwards taking the ball away from him not letting him take it in, then send him back to the wing on 3rd tackle or so. He didn't see the ball unless he came in for it so I for one don't blame him one iota for that!
