I did think we were better, but at the end of the day, it was one bad day, and certainly wasnt the worse Widnes display I've ever seen
Some people just got far too excited about our run of form leading up to the Hunslet game and just refused to see the flaws. They have now fallen into utter despair and think we are just going to have yet another poor season. they are going from one extreme to another.
I think we’ll have our best season since the new regime took over, but we won’t necessarily win owt. If we can get a few players back from injury and keep our squad as fit as possible you never know though.
We actually have a very good pack available, when all are fit, and we haven’t been able to say that for a long time. Our backs are good, and we even have a bit of competition at fullback between Craven and Flynn. We’ve been struggling for a fullback for years and now we have two!
My main concern is scrum half and the fact that there doesn’t appear to be a leader in the team. Someone needed to calm things down yesterday and just keep up the pressure on the opposition line, instead of trying to score off every play and running into areas that were well covered by the Hawks. The desperation was palpable and it led to far too many silly errors, forward passes and knock-ons.
