Joins York City Knights.. Best of luck to the lad. He scored some excellent tries for us, some very important ones and I never questioned his commitment or desire on the field of play. I hope it works out for him there and he ends up back in SL one day.

Yep, two very good players at this level mate. Thacks will be a firm favourite with your fans of that I have no doubt. Ford will go well for you too.

Nice bit of business. Do you know whether there is anything of a fee being paid? I really wouldn't have thought so but there was talk of discussions at board level etc. Just wondering.

I'm pretty sure Widnes actually released them so I don't think there was a fee involved. I'd be very suprised if York had the money to be paying transfer fees anyway.

I'm absolutely made up with these signings. Win #2 against Dewsbury on Sunday and we're right back in the mixer!

Yeah, they were told that they are free to find new contracts so the club just wanted them off the wage bill. Thackeray will go on to bigger and better things than the Championship.

dont worry guys. the club have been in talks with my mum about getting me on a dual Reg deal ill be ripping it up along side I'anson later on

Do you really think he will go on to bigger and better things than the championship? I will be very suprised if he ever does. Very good signing for York though.

I agree he is a Championship level player.What does he have once loses his pace?No kicking or creativity in passing.So i wish him luck and tried his best in a Widnes shirt.Widnes have good youngsters like Gilmore and Gore who can play halfback.We should be aiming higher than Thacks for Superleague.

Thacks is still contracted for SL as it stands ane u never know could be at the stobart next year. Straight from the horses er tweet

Erm, the club made it quite clear all of the players released would not form part of the 2012 squad. I assume they've sorted out any contractual arrangements Thackeray might have had.
