I can understand people not wanting Wire to win (or Saints, Wigan or Hudds, as everybody has different reasons) but this post is just a load of bitter nonsense.
Surely the Challenge Cup is the one bit of RL that hasn't changed. It hasn;t been affected by licensing etc. I can understand Widnes fans being bitter about SL (until they get in there in a couple of years, and then everything will be forgotten), but I don;t really understand the attack on the cup.

I agree with that. I'm not sure where this guy has come from but we need people like him to understand moaning about things wont get us anywhere. Our club isn't moaning, we're putting together a club to be proud of.

It has been discussed many times, but look at the difference in attitude between Widnes and Leigh. Widnes (IMHO) had a genuine right to be disappointed, whereas Leigh seemed to have convinced themselves it was a stadium comp, yet the positivity from the Widnes club (in general) has won them a lot of supporters in their bid for SL.
Don't get me wrong, when you are in SL, I will want you to lose every game!

You will WISH we lose every game. When the viking horde approaches the Geri halliwell you will cower, sir. Cower.

You speak of understanding the reasons why fans of certain clubs don't want certain other clubs to prosper. The underpinning reason is called tradition. Exactly the same for me yet with the important add-on of principled reasons concerning the very soul of RL. And you bet I'm bitter, that's what the demise of RL's soul under the poppycock administration of the game since 1995 does to decent-minded followers of it. RL didn't start in that year. Seeing as you then call it "nonsense", tell me where I'm wrong on everything I said, fella. Just on those things in themselves, none of the so-called positives Lewis, Wood et al mealy-mouth their way through every now and then in defiance of reality. Which a lapdog RL media then fall over themselves to support. This is no defence to what I said. And none of that tosh either about RL being so down on its knees the inception of SL and its modus operandi since has saved it. Lindsay and co. savaged the sport overnight - it is about respect for ALL clubs then, and now. It's how not why you implement necessary change.

How ironic you seeing tradition in the Challenge Cup, which I didn't attack. Reread what I said. The only people who attacked its status were those who tossed it up in the air, faffed around with its long-standing format and banished it to a daft August conclusion. Lindsay and co. initially. Summer RL is no excuse for it.
What particularly galls me with folk like you is how you just can't grasp the plain fact change doesn't guarantee progress. If not it is simply change for change's sake. Like I've said, it's HOW you do it.

I come from Widnes. And moaning? Do yourself a favour. Understand my posts have everything to do with a love of not only my club but as importantly the game itself. Since when have you had a monopoly on what represents "pride" in a club? My guess is your subservience to the Red Hall edict is very much a minority view in this town, matey.
I'd just love to know what Steve O'Connor really thinks, freed from the shackles of having to say "all the right things".

I'm starting to wonder whether you are just trolling now.
1. I've never questioned you being from widnes or not. But since you've felt the need to mention it, I'm now starting to wonder.
2. I've never mentioned pride, I've never clarified whether I believe you have any or I have more or less, MUCH LESS believed I had some sort of monopoly on pride. Its a nonargument whenever it comes up and I haven't.
3. Subservience to Red Hall? That is a joke and a half. You have no idea about me and if you think that you are showing how clueless you really are.
4. There are no shackles on Steve O Connor. He is just showing a knack for diplomacy which you completely lack so far. When things don't go your way for whatever reason, you can either stamp your feet, moan and shut yourself off from the world or you can pick yourself up and move forwards. I had a good little moan at the time of the franchise announcements but the world has moved on and you need to move on as well. Stop dragging it up. We can't change it. It was a loving travesty but we can't do anything about it. All we can do is come out fighting. We're eligable to apply now, and we have so far the strongest case by a distance. So show your support in other ways, don't drag the mood down join in with the better mood.
That is, if you're not as I suggested earlier a troll account from one of the usual suspects.

Strangely I am more inclined to agree with you nowadays.
However I do not trust the RFL as far as I can throw them, but if we manage to win another NRC and a gf, and maintain an average gate of anything between 3-4k, I can't see a reason for them not to allow us entry.
You are spot on about the positive attitude that the club have displayed though since last July. SOC should be congratulated for that. Things looking to be coming together nicely on the paddock too round about now. A win on Sunday is vital.
As for Wires, I hope u lose every game anyway. Be great to be packed into that away end at the Geri Halliwell again, missed the local games. Used to be immense

Wonder away.

Now you're making excuses.

I have enough idea to know you'll be the first to start moaning when shenanigans from Red Hall pop up again. And they will; and you will.

What represents "eligibility" to Lewis et al isn't even worth the uncertainty the term naturally carries, never mind converting it into a franchise. We will likely get one but there are wider issues. Ignore them at your peril. The game's future is at stake. And my principled grievances go back to 1995, matey, when I predicted everything that has ensued. It isn't a convenient short-term bandwagon to get on and off when it suits like your "moving on coz the world has". Where do you think RL will be in another 10-15 years, eh? If expansion a la the past and current methods and, erm, eligibility for it goes on how many historic clubs and which ones, will make way for, say, an Irish club, Scottish club, Toulouse? SL's intention is to base clubs in the big cities, fella, or ones near enough to count in their Sky masters' eyes. Warrington are already seen as the prime "Cheshire" club - don't kid yourself on that. So which clubs will have to go? Unless you think SL will have 20+ clubs or more laughably, 2 divisions.
That is, if you're not as I suggested earlier a troll account from one of the usual suspects.
