Dale Johnson 79 is always moaning mate, and he would moan if we signed Lockyer next year saying he is too old. I was gutted Smith and Doran have left, but with some good youngsters we will be fine.Finnegan is a better player than Doran so to me Smith is the only one i am upset going.But hopefully Coyle will step up next year.Anybody got any information on this Wigan youngster and it is rumour till set in stone.

Im not fussed on Gannon departing tbh, he works his nads off ill give him that but he makes little yards and gives away loads of penalties. Our recruitment thus far has been pretty good, all on year deal deals so i think were onto a winner.

So,so in my opinion.The signings of Tyrer and I'Anson don't really fill me with excitement.With I'Ansons history of knee injury we could have another Tim Hartley on our hands,a player who misses more games than he plays.Like Tampax,one week in three weeks out.

Tyrer has his faults but he can attack very well and can kick goals for fun, he's still only a young lad with vast Super League experience. I'anson if he stays fit will be a real good signing IMO, it's a gamble of course but sometimes they pay off. The good news is both are on 1 year deals so at least were not tied down to anything.

We need a couple of experienced heads coming in though, you cant have a team full of youthful potential without a guiding hand. A Brad Drew type character would go real well guiding thacks and I'anson.

Laim is a 13 he is about the same size as ben kav wigan for some reason was playing him at prop and hooker imo he is a ball playing 13.

i cant speke for ianson but interms of tyrer hes some1 ive watched since he was 16 and i think your going to get alot out of him this tear the lad just wants to rebuild his career hes now at the right club after being messed around for the last 2 seasons,i wish him all the best and i no widnes will get the best out of him

I think that the centres are looking better than last year. Tyrer is OK for this league, plus he can kick. But you’re right, we still have a lot of work to do with our recruitment. Let’s hope the club think so too.

It’s the pack and halfbacks where we really lack quality and experience. Thacks is good, but we need a very good scrum half, with a good kicking game, alongside him. Like you say, I’Anson should be considered a major risk, and one that I wouldn’t have took. I find his recruitment unbelievable, considering what happened this season after signing crocks. He’s more of a stand off anyway, and that’s where we should be playing Thacks. So I fully agree with you about I’Anson.

Our pack has lost Mark Smith and lee Doran, and they have been replaced by Netherton and Finnegan. Finnegan may strengthen our attacking options, but he’s not the tough nut Doran was, and Netherton isn’t anything like as good as Smithy. We’ll probably lose Gannon and Gaz Hag too. This leaves us with just Heckenberg as our only senior prop. Pickersgill is good, but he’s not at his prime as a prop yet, but that’s it!

That’s Heckenberg and Picks as our best props. Neither are the tough yard dogs we need, but both are good and I’m happy with them though. All we have then are our academy lads. This would give us a possible pack of:

Heckenberg/Netherton/Pickersgill/Allen/Finnegan/Gerrard

Pack players on Bench: Varkulis, Kelly, Smith (Jack), Leuluai.

This is weak imo. It’s worse than we had last season and, due to injury, that wasn’t particularly strong. We need a couple more bruisers in there. We really do need to get serious with the recruiting now and forget about bringing in anymore ‘promising youngsters’ into the first team. We have more than enough already.

I dont know why people are getting so worked up about it though, i have mentioned previously that quite a few players contracts dont end until November and clubs for one reason or another dont announce anything until a contract has ran out. If Haggerty Senior and Gannon leave then they will be replaced by a couple of experienced props. The club are already in talks with a certain experienced prop.

I do however understand the need to get recruitment right this year, we cant have another flat effort going into SL.
