It doesn't suit us at all. Connecting our club to this sham serves only the RFL, and I sincerely doubt even they would resort to this.

I agree with vikings fan.I rather Widnes fold than to be an expansion and play in Wrexham.I do not go to watch Widnes rugby union so if Rfl lose the heartland teams, rugby league will die.I am based in Gloucester and would start watching union and football. To be honest this is all rumours and we will all hear more bull, from now till franchise time.Alot of these rumours spread come from fans from clubs in danger such as Cas,Wakey etc.To be honest i am laughing at all this bollox.

Me: I'm still reeling from the news that someone is considering watching the 1st and 3rd game on Saturday and NOT watching Warrington play. It's like being in Shea Stadium when the Beatles came to town and deciding to nip out for a fag.

knockersbumpMKII: Is it FOOK, you're good but you're not THAT good, jesus you wanky fans need to get over yourselves, Beatles at the Shea in '65 was a once in a lifetime opportunity for some (despite the following years performance), you can watch a very good team in primrose & yellow play every week if you really wanted to but comparing it to one of the very best music groups of all time in an iconic stadia such as the shea is overegging your importance, you're not even the best team in SL atm

Could this be the start of the much vaunted revolution that some people are desperate for.
You could see Widnes with maybe Fax and Barrow taking legal action. The RFL threatning exemption from their competition if they proceed and maybe Leigh jumping in alongside ourselves to form a breakaway..

Or

SOC would simply walk away having learnt a very valuable lesson about a group of men with no integrity whatsoever.

And what would that legal action be for?

Every penny spent on 2012 bid including promo work based on that, some SL clubs could do the same stating it cost more to force stadium plans through at this time etc.

That's what they would look to recover.

But what would the claim be? Breach of contract? Breach of warranty? What?

This is history. This is history. Right here. Right now. This is history.

I thought it was Widnes?
All games are winnable, whats hard to understand about that.

Wakefield turn over a big club every season and i see no reason why Widnes can't do the same.
Good point to raise. I would hazard a guess it would be a breach of contract - if there is any agreement that has been made over the actual decision making process. The RFL have committed to promoting a team from the Championship that meets the criteria.

This is an extract from the Operations Rules (http://www.therfl.co.uk/licensing):-

In order for a Championship club’s application to proceed to assessment by the RFL, an applicant must meet the Championship club minimum criteria.

These minimum criteria are:

a. Club has reached a Championship Final or won the Northern Rail Cup in 2009 or 2010.
b. Club has a stadium with an operational capacity of 10,000.
c. Club has turnover of at least £1,000,000 in financial year ending 2009 or 2010.
d. Club has an average attendance of at least 2500 in 2009 or 2010.

Provided at least one applicant meets the minimum criteria, a Championship club will be awarded a Super League licence for a three-year period commencing at the start of the 2012 season.

This initial successful Championship club receiving a Super League licence will be announced in March 2011.

Not sure if the bits in bold contradict each other slightly. The former refers to meeting minimum criteria and proceeding to assessment whereas the latter suggests an award will be made based on the minimum criteria.

"The independent RFL Board will determine who gains membership to the Super League in 2012."

I don't know what else is in the Operation Rules with regards to a club being prevented from taking legal action nor them blocking license applications for 5 years. I'm not a lawyer but applicant clubs are relying on the RFL board to act independently and impartially in making its decision. It's all in the words used and judging on the above example it is all a bit too wooly for my liking.
