I'd completely disagree with this comment. Thackray is a fine player and has on numerous times dug us out of the doo doo when the going has got tough. His biggest problem is not one of his own making and that is that he does not have a suitable foil in the other halfback position.
Opposition teams know that he is our creative outlet and therefore try to smother him which is common sense.
If his partner in the SH position gets involved in the game then Thacks flourishes and quite often does so even if the player next to him doesn't offer much.
A real boost with L'Anson coming back to fitness or one of the exciting youngsters coming through is that it should free Thackray up a little more. Coyle or Gerrard are not quite the answers at SH.
