I'd completely disagree with this comment. Thackray is a fine player and has on numerous times dug us out of the doo doo when the going has got tough. His biggest problem is not one of his own making and that is that he does not have a suitable foil in the other halfback position.
Opposition teams know that he is our creative outlet and therefore try to smother him which is common sense.
If his partner in the SH position gets involved in the game then Thacks flourishes and quite often does so even if the player next to him doesn't offer much.
A real boost with L'Anson coming back to fitness or one of the exciting youngsters coming through is that it should free Thackray up a little more. Coyle or Gerrard are not quite the answers at SH.

Fair point, and indeed the two viewpoints are a little more similar than you'd first imagine - I see Thackeray going 'missing' whereas you see him as being 'smothered' - the same end result, just different views of it occurring!

Thacks was fantastic last year and led all out attacking play and various comebacks (or attempted ones) also worth remembering he had a few problems to deal with last season also...

1) well documented with no Webster he was on his own and hence easier to play out of the game. We did the same to Rooney in cup and Barrow had no answers.

2) When Kohe Balbao was out (yes that often) he had pretty much no-one to find out wide as a 'go to man' same with Allen in the middle (already combined to create a few this season).

3) Our pack was decimated a lot last year and when sides like Leigh dominated us in the middle he didn't have much momentum to work with.

This year we have corrected all that overall (Coyle starting to take more ball & I'Anson to come in) and the results are showing! Against Toulouse he was unreal, creating tries, scoring, support play was great.

With Finnegan & Allen hitting lines on his shoulder and Tyrer / Ropati / Ford giving real attacking options at centre, never mind Craven coming around the back I can see Thacks really showing his SL quality all around this season!

B0llocks Matt, he's the best 6 in this division thats for sure and i have never seen him go missing. A typical example is Fev on Saturday night, not the best conditions and it was a real slug in the mud but guess who was putting himself about? Thacks was everywhere.

I can only go off what i see when watching Fax v Widnes. He always causes us no end of problems. I don't think i've seen him have a bad game against us.
