I’m not too sure why anyone would think Paddy Flynn played well. In the second half he was one of the worst players on the pitch.
Having just watched it again, on the leigh ‘Blip TV’ video, I did Paddy a disservice. It was mostly Danny craven who was out of position and didn’t get himself on the inside of Ropati quick enough, when he made that break. I don’t suppose you can blame Craven too much, as he’s not a winger. This is the disadvantage of viewing the game from behind the sticks with your team at the other end for most of the 2nd half. I thought that Paddy was brought back on much sooner than he was.
You’d have to say that there were some strange decisions made by Denis Betts yesterday. First with team selection, then with substitutions, and then the one that probably caused most damage; swapping half of the team around into different positions when Paddy was taken off injured. Craven, Thacks, Coyle and I’Anson, all swapping places. I cant understand why he didn’t just move Varkulis to Centre or put Leuluai on the wing until Paddy was able to come back on again. No wnder we looked disjointed and couldn't assemble an attacking move. The forwards didn't help much though.
