I was very frustrated with the side last night but then after thinking about it a high percentage of that side played every game out of the 3 over easter including the back 5 both half backs and both hookers so you can allow them being a bit wary. Not only did we win but we did win comfortably despite the hope we'd have knocked up another twenty. So 2/3 Halifax, Barrow & Toulouse... i'd take that.

Hopefully now we can start getting some performances together!

Indeed, leaving the loveydovey outbreak of board man love aside for a moment, i was rather underwhelmed last night.
watching it back when i got home, we looked a lot more organised and it looked a lot more exciting on TV for some reason. we seemed a lot less organised when i watched it in person.
it was one of those games that never got going really, besides the 15 minute spell in the second half when we effectively put the game to bed.
but 2 out of 3 is all good. could have been much worse. we definately need someone to take control on the field though, we looked decidely rudderless again last night, easter period tiredness or not.
i would certainly be looking at keeping tomkins and Co onboard, assuming wigan could be tempted to part with them permanently.

I thought we could have put a couple of the 23s in on Thursday to freshen it up if players were tired. Sculthorpe will not play SL again and offers very little for us. I would have preferred Alex Gerrard getting 20 minutes than him. Don't think we will get to keep Tomkins I expect he will play first team for Wigan. Crosby offers little more than our own young lads in 23's and I would like to see Grant Gore given a go sooner rather than later.

Our 18s, most of whom have stepped up to 23s ripped it up against SL 18s last year. Time they were given a chance before SL next year when they will be further down the pecking order. They went to places like Headingley and Craven Park and came away with wins so I don't believe they would be phased getting 20 to 30 minutes against Hunslet, York Tolouse, Barrow etc.

couldnt agree more my good man! when i expressed the wish to retain tomkins thats not to say we shouldnt get our own young lads stuck in now. if this season isnt a good time i dont know when will be. if anything, we could carry off wins on energy and enthusiasm alone with a few more of our youth in there alongside young tomkins, such as gerrard, Gore, kelly etc. hulme looks a gem. cant wait for him to be back to fitness. and lets not forget danny craven. a team with all those lads in looks promisiing enough, lack of years or not.
