an atmosphere that isn't created by people in matching shirts clapping along to a drum or novelty PA music might be nice!

That away Leigh game stood in the pouring rain, terrible game, we lost, and more importantly the game was nothing more than thuggery. Smithy got his arms pinned back by two of their players whilst another punched him repeatedly square in the face. Still one of the most cowardly things I've ever seen on a rugby league pitch. I recall the leythers bigging up how Smith was owed a beating before the match and the players obviously set out beforehand to give him one.
I remember another peice of thuggery by leigh in 2006 i think it was then biby headbutted hulse of the ball

This is why events unnerve me.

Paul Hulme was once sent off for gouging.

Think he got banned for it too, even though the player on the receiving end (Paul Medley?) said it hadn't happened, not even accidentally, as he wore contact lenses and these would have been dislodged by a finger in the eye.

The Hulmes were dirty buggers - all knees and elbows - but not thugs. Opponents might wake up the next day with ribs bruised to hell but they weren't in any danger of eating through a straw for days or missing half a season with a broken cheekbone.

I remember reading an interview in Open Rugby with a leading player from another top team (Leeds?) saying that the Hulmes dished it out but they took the same stick too and never moaned. There was nothing cowardly about the way they played the game.

BEST

NFP Final win.

Spanking Leeds three times (and one in SA) in one season.

After the terrible start to the 04 season, becoming the first team to beat Wire in the HJ. Nicky Royle > Darryl Cardiss. :)

WORST

Relegation against Warrington.

Grand Final against Cas.

License announcement day.

2015 - major missed opportunity, 2016 - stronger teams = harder task (no problem there then), 2017 - OMG What now!!!

Unfortunately I couldn't be at that infamous game at Leyth. Does anyone know where I might be able to get a copy of that game from?

I'd like to make my own observations and maybe dredge the past up  .

Seriously if anyone can point me in the right direction I'd be grateful.

Everyone seems to be forgetting the game at Widnes prior to this when thug Smith had a good look to see if the ref was looking before clouting someone big time....not surprising really seeing as this is a Widnes board. Good luck with your merger with the Crusaders

What about the time Smith blatantly came late into Heremaia's chest with his knees in a tackle?

I think it's fair to say both sides have had their fair share of 'dirty' players over the year and people could reel off all sorts of tales about each others teams.

Yes it was so bad that the 'magic sponge' fixed him and he was back on in the second half.

Glad to see Bibey back, some how i dont think he will be dishing any beatings to our current pack.
