There's nothing funnier than a Salford fan pontificating about the licencing system....
This from a club that threatned that if they were not awarded a licence then their landmark RL purpose built stadium would not be built. That had the audacity to pour scorn over those clubs that had enlisted the help of their local councils to build their grounds. That had their main development company go bust days after the announcement.
Salford are building a decent looking side for next year and are spending some 'serious' money. The fact remains that Salford Council and Peel Holdings have yet to spend any real money on the ground. All the land clearance work has been carried out using money obtained from the North West Development Agency has it not? Also whilst most other councils up and down the country are being asked to reign in spending and cut expenses including some of the most affluent areas, we are expected to believe that Salford Council are set to build a stadium and spend somewhere in the region of £16 - 20 million pounds.
Maybe it will.. Maybe Salford Council will buck the trend... Maybe they are trying to play their way out of being removed from SL.
