How many times have Widnes had players in space and Thackeray has ball hogged? Fecking loads. He's also and unfairly given players a right earful this year for crap decisions he made.

Right decision bad timing.

Style of play was the point I was getting at.

Yes he can frustrate sometimes but also often gets it right out of nowhere and top scorer last season and about 10 this year? Led the comeback against Toulouse, intercept try ended up being winner against Fev that's all 2011!

Start of year he put on some great short balls for Allen & Finnegan yet how much ball with time and space have we created lately?

I don't think there's a 'good time' for players to be told they're not in the frame fo SL.

This is probably why we're seeing the performances out on the pitch that we are now. Most likely they've been told a few weeks back and they aren't giving 100% - as you might expect. The dual regs are probably being signed to counteract the fact that some of the lads won't be giving that 100% - the dual regs are from a top tier club and are likely to play to their full potential to either break into the parent clubs 1sts or gain a contract here or elsewhere.

Don't agree with the dual regs BTW - I think we've got plenty of good young lads who've never let us down and should be given their chance.

I posted on the Wigan site that the dual reggers are here to paper over the cracks and get us to the end of the year.

I don't understand this, during the off season when Thackeray was linked with other clubs you were ALL gutted. You all sang his praises, he's the only player i'm ever worried about when we play you lot. And now he's been let go he's apparently 'not that cracky anymore'?

J20 has a hell of a point, Thackeray is a brilliant talent at scoring trys, like Black is for us. And with a little work and FULL TIME training he could be brilliant for you lot. I don't think i'll ever understand the logic behind this move.

I guess that part of Widnes' thinking is that as Thackeray was let go by both Hull and Castleford (whilst in SL), he won't be up to standard now. Who knows? Personally, as its nearly four years since his last SL appearance and he'll have matured as a player a great deal since then, I'd give him the benefit of the doubt. Widnes will obviously need to retain SOME players from the current squad for 2012, and I fully expected him to be amongst that number given his importance to the club over the past few seasons - even if he hasn't really got the makings of a SL quality player. Quite baffled!

Yep, there just doesn't seem to be a decent reasoning behind this at all. I've been wracking my brain since it was announced and I can't think of one. He was one of the main players who could possibly make the step up. He isn't without faults, but in a decent team he could be great. And now of all times!

I think we have a few good halfbacks in t reserves and academy.Gore,Gilmore and Craven,so I do not see thacks as a lost.When loses his pace then he has no running game,and his defence,kicking, or passing game is not the best.There is players in t championship like Finn,Moore,brambi,black,Ellis,ridyard who are better or just as good.So what is the big fuss as Thacks not real class just a good player.
