I think the original point is a general reflection on the performance of this particular ref over many games and with decisions missed both ways. How that can feck you off so much as to have a pop speaks a lot about you.

If you'd like to experience a real "extreme case of sour grapes" start a conversation with anyone from Runcorn about any leisure amenity ever built in Widnes.

If it really was the 7th tackle he had already given one advantage to Wigan in error - to "correct" his mistake would surely have meant that he ought to have given the next decision in Widnes's favour rather than make another error in disallowing an obvious Advantage play to Widnes.

So - in that short passage of play Child made two errors in their favour.?

Ah well, we will never know if Owens could have run the length of the field and score as Charnley did.

In answer to Cherry_Warrior, I didn't actually say or infer that all the off-sides and forward passes were by Wigan, just that most of them were missed (apart from the obvious one to Gelling when his "try" was rightly disallowed) - but now he mentions it.........

Now the dust has settled, I'm ok with a 1 point defeat as I've watched the game back on Sky today and it was still exciting to watch!

The ref's decision on the forward pass in the first half may haunt us, but to be fair what might usually have been a nailed on try for Jack may not have escaped Charnley's pace so it's something of nothing!

Not seen it mentioned, but thought Carven and Mellor worked well. A lot of talk about Wigan lads, but we did have a good few who haven't featured in the team for two months and they all deserve similar credit for contributions to a great game!

Heard from a friend that John Clarke was extremely disappointed after the result, which just shows that the expectation is now a lot higher than it was!

As usual,the best referees are in the stands.Unfortunately,they don't know the rules/interpretations,can't be bothered to actually become a referee,have very short memories and only one eye.

Stuart Cummins used to be a Test Match ref and he said the video ref got it wrong so your right the best refs are not in the stands

He's on about any decision he happens to agree with but none of the decisions that he doesn't agree with - nothing changes.Just accept that like players,referees do the best they can,most of the time they are right sometimes not,if they happen not to see something,they can't give it.If players made as few mistakes as refs,we'd all be delighted.

Thanks for the info. Carney does seem to be anti-Widnes for some reason.

I've changed my mind rs,your right,all referees are deliberately anti Widnes.I look forward to receiving your application to be a referee,I'll fast forward you.Then again,I don't expect to hear from you.
