Fans of all clubs have idiots, Widnes are certainly no exception. I was unaware Haven had that many but last night I was unfortunate enough to be sat in front of two of the roughest fans I think I've ever seen.
As for the game just because a referee gives 9 penalties on the bounce doesn't mean that those penalties aren't justified. Some of those were blatant head high tackles and you were persistently offside. It got so embarrassing that the referee just stopped giving penalties against you in the second half. It speaks wonders that Ged Stokes has no problem with the refereeing.
He was also spot on to say that scoring first was a bad thing for them. It was only a few minutes but I thought they were looking half decent at that point. Suddenly we scored a couple and before they knew it the wind had been completely knocked out of them. We were awesome, looking to offload and try stuff all the time. I thought Dodd and Doran deserve special mention for the way they played.
The only slight issue I would have is that on another day our lack of ruthlessness could have cost us. The Duffy mistake left it looking like we were going to go in at half time at only 22-10 when we had dominated far more than that. Haven are a good side and I was worried that they might regroup at half time and put up more of a challenge in the second half.
It wasn't to be though. I didn't think anything would top the Fax result but in my opinion that was much better. I think at home we are the best side in the league. If you look at our last 4 home games the scores have been 58-10, 42-16, 78-4 and 46-22. 3 of those are against teams that will probably finish above us in the league table. That's my only worry, away we struggle to reproduce the same form and may not make the final because of it.
