Even if Halifax or Barrow get the nod, they would need to sign probably just as many as Widnes to put a competative team on the field. However they wouldnt be able to draw on their youngsters if they suffer an injury crisis.
Think you do not understand the U23s that Fax have. They are all Halifax Youngsters who have either been signed from SL Clubs (Josh Barlow-Huddersfield, Andy Bowman-Wigan,) or youngsters from amateur clubs. They beat Fev away at the weekend for example. Most will not make it-same as Widnes. But the Halifax area is hardly short of talent with Siddal U16, U18s Yorkshire Cup Winners the other week and Siddal & Elland contested the U18s and both represented in other age group finals. 3 14 year olds from King Cross Park are in the England U16s National Team. Sadly Fax cant match SL Clubs at the moment though that would likely change. Bradford, Salford, Leeds, CastlefordHuddersfield and Warrington have a number of Halifax born lads- Luke Ambler, Adam 0´Brien, Joe Wardle, Jacob Fairbank (On loan at fax), Daniel Fleming, etc as well as a host of others on Scholarships. There is no reason to suggest that the Youngsters that Widnes have will make the grade in SL. For whatever reason the youngsters at Widnes have hardly shined that much in the Championship. Its a big step from the Championship up to SL level.
