It will be good to have Widnes back in SL and the club deserves congratulations not just on getting in but on the patient way they dealt with the last three years to build for the future. What posters like
Paul2812 and
1977 seem to be unable to grasp is that they have a rival side who deserve respect. Warrington are enjoying a good time right now but Widnes will be working hard to step up to being contenders. As some on here have understood, this may take longer to achieve than you would wish. The current Wire side was largely built by Paul Cullen, and although Tony Smith has proved the better ( and the truly inspirational ) coach I'm sure he's pretty pleased with a lot of his PC-acquired squad members. Widnes may have to go through similar ups-and-downs before reaching top-four class, especially as Leeds, Pies, Saints, Wire and one or two more won't be just lying down and passing on the baton of success.
At the end of the day I'll be as vocal as any Wire fan wanting victories over Widnes when it comes down to it, but great matches like our win at the Pies only come when the opposition is also a good side, so welcome back to the club and I'm sure you'll be under no illusions that it will be a warm welcome.
