I think you'll find that probably all Kevin Penny needs is a good team to play with and a coach with time to give. Wire were dire when he was playing there and he got dropped just as he was getting his confidence defensively.

What he will always be remembered for though in SL terms is the try he gifted us at Knowsley Road. He'd just scored a scorcher of a try against us - truly brilliant stuff - and then he gets bigheaded about it, which of course is an invitation to disaster. He defends on his own line, well, and then thinks it's a Wire player ahead of him and throws it to one of our lot and we score from it. From then on in some of the wisecracks in our fans began singing 'There is only one Kevin Penny' and he hasn't been seen at Knowsley Road since, bless him!

I think he's matured a bit now and is probably less likely to boast openly about his achievements. It was a tough lesson for him to learn I'm sure.

He is amazing to watch when in flight though. Just incredible. And I'm sure RL has done him a disservice somewhere down the line.

Don't talk soft, he will be remembered for making Gidley, Wellens and Gardner look shyyte on many occasions, best finisher in this country......FACT.

No, I don't think so (that is, I don't think he made those three players look 'shyyte'). When he can defend like those three can then he will be a seriously excellent winger. Until then, he is a seriously fast winger who needs some seriously good coaching. Personally, I hope he gets it and goes on to fulfil his potential.

I take it you've never seen any games against Saints then he's been involved in. The try in the CC in 2007, the try in the CC in 2008, the hat-trick at the HJ in 2008 when he laughed at Gardner and Gidley. I see your sinlge mistake and raise you 5 examples of excellence.

From what I have seen of Penny, hes an exciting prospect who has scored some great tries but with like most youngsters he is still learning the game and is prone to daft mistakes. With time and experiance he will turn into a great player.

Having seen him live yesterday, everytime he had the ball you just sensed something was going to happen and his pace was electric. He made one mistake but apart from that he was top drawer!!!

Absolutely. Seems like a long time since we've had a player who had the opposition worried whenever he got the ball.

Funny situation where we have two wingers who look too good for this level in Flynn & Penny - but no decent ball for them.

Yes, I have. All I said was that particular mistake is what he is remembered for, and it is. He was on TV at the time as well. But that's just part of learning the game and I have no idea why you are so defensive. It's very silly. I've made it quite clear that I hope he fulfills his potential.
