May seem soft to have press conference for this but Widnes get a lot of praise from media for how accesable we are and we need as much free coverage as possible.

Whereas have heard a lot of critiscm about Fax on this subject and for example Noble deal announced in local paper (ok, know part of a deal) but then fair less focus directly on the club!

It wasn’t clear, until today, that Betts would be in charge of Widnes in Super League. It had to be announced at some point. The club didn’t make a massive fuss about it over the week and simply set it all up within one day, and on a day when we normally have press conferences when there is something to announce.

My only problem is with the decision itself and not the way it was done. . All the talk of the club scouting out top NRL coaches is what makes the club look like it’s shot itself in the foot though.

I agree Chris.It's now high time people,myself included,stopped portraying SOC as some kind of naiive RL novice having the wool pulled over his eyes.He has been involved in the game long enough now and can make his own decisions.The results and performances under Betts are there for all to see but obviously Steve feels he us up to the job and can handle the pressure.Anyways,good luck Denis and congratulations on your SL contract.Heres hoping now to see some SL standard coaching at Championship level from here on in.You know,handling the pressure and all that,which the likes of Thackery couldn't.

Well, gotta admit I met the decision with a sigh.

But what's done is done and we've got to get behind him a nd the team. If people don't join the stronghold due to this decision then they must not have the clubs interests at heart.
I can see it now when the club don't/can't sign better players - the ones who didn't join up saying I told you so when them not signing up was/is the reason for not having the dosh to sign the better players.
