The premiership trophy is a minor trophy up until it became Super League Playoffs when League champions became minor. The only trophies that mean anything in Rugby League are League Champions (Now Grand Final), Challenge Cup and World Club Champions. So yeah you won a few of those premierships, but they are just side shows to the main events. You didn't get a shot at the world club championship because of a premiership win did you? Halifax couldn't take part in a World Club Championship because it came the season after our Championship win.
My reply was to OFFTHECUFF who says Widnes has a richer history then Halifax. However Halifax are one of the founders of our great game, Widnes weren't even around. Halifax were winning trophies long before Widnes, including the double. Widnes won the majority of their trophies between 1974-1990 (8 major and just 3 before that). That is a rich period, not a rich history. What happened the rest of the time? Plus like Halifax you haven't lifted a major trophy for over 20 years. I never said Halifax were better I said they had similar records, you just got your knickers in a twist.
So live in the past if you wish, that's your choice. I was just being realistic.
