And as for being cocky, yes you are! Every last one of you thinks its a done deal... Anything can happen with the RFL and although it is slightly optimistic I feel Fax are in with a good shout of getting the franchise (especially if you take the on pitch performance into account) there's one box your lot haven't / cant / wont tick!

The only way Fax will get in before us is if they add the following to the criteria:
Cheating by fielding an ineligible player. Getting kicked out of a major cup competition. Having a stand that is sinking. Having a coach who has multiple convictions.
I think you'll find we were established in 1873 while you were established in 1895. So actually you're wrong yet again! Your team had one really good year and good on them but you've lived off that for the last 21 years.
Halifax have more League Championships then you at 5 to your 3, but you've won more challenge Cups 7 to 4. Although Halifax have won the double, something you haven't done. So neither team really has a richer history then the other, Halifax is just older.
I hope Widnes do get into Super League, I'm sure they will do well. At the same time I also hope Halifax get in as they too can add to our great game.

The sporting club that gave birth to Widnes RLFC was in existance in 1871 - 2 years before Halifax, so arguably Fax weren't even about then and as such Widnes are an arguably older club. And for your info, Widnes were a founder member of the Northern Union in 1895 - i.e. Rugby League - precisely the same time as Fax.

My mistake, however your cricket club didn't start playing rugby until 1875. Two years after Halifax. However I stand corrected on the first point.

The premiership trophy is a minor trophy up until it became Super League Playoffs when League champions became minor. The only trophies that mean anything in Rugby League are League Champions (Now Grand Final), Challenge Cup and World Club Champions. So yeah you won a few of those premierships, but they are just side shows to the main events. You didn't get a shot at the world club championship because of a premiership win did you? Halifax couldn't take part in a World Club Championship because it came the season after our Championship win.

Halifax were winning trophies long before Widnes, including the double. Widnes won the majority of their trophies between 1974-1990 (8 major and just 3 before that). That is a rich period, not a rich history. What happened the rest of the time? Plus like Halifax you haven't lifted a major trophy for over 20 years. I never said Halifax were better I said they had similar records, you just got your knickers in a twist.
So live in the past if you wish, that's your choice. I was just being realistic.

Well swinton have won the league 6 times so they must be a bigger club than fax.You won the league 1903,1907 and 1965 when rugby was not as big.Overall widnes have won more ad I have researched.The premiers and regal was worthwhile.Anyway admit my dad is better than yours.
Well looking at the thread I say fax are the cocky ones and wonder why they are my most disliked team.Win grand final and deserve a licence.Well I be laughing come end of march.
It was predicted by all and sundry on here that all this backbiting and bitching would occur. The situation has not been created by Widnes, Fax, Crusaders or any other club - we all know who has created the situation but remember by bitching back we're like organised fighting dogs. We're put in a situation created by someone else and squabbling over something that isn't really our own argument. The club that gets in will simply be the ones who have adapted best to somebody elses rules - sadly they don't have to be the best on the pitch where there would be no arguing. It appears at the minute we have adapted better than most, possibly all and rumours and inside info have it that we're certs.
We've been bitten before but I am confident we have the best offer on the table for this round of licences. Fax are a good club and have most things in place - more than some current SL clubs and if things were as I believe they should be we would both be in SL now, never mind next season or in 3 years time.

I agree as all this franchise mullarkey annoys me.Think i will go away until after the decision has been made.Come on the Vikings we are the biggest club in the Championship.
