Widnes Weekly News : Thu Jun 11, 2009 8:38 am
Just bought this weeks addition and read back page story.
Not that I want to bring up the subject again as I think we need to move on as a club, some very interesting statements made by all parties.
JS Comments ;
sounds coming out of the club that the decision was amicable are 'absolute bull' - Wasn't the decision as stated on the club website 'by mutual consent'?
'I was under the impression that I was in with a chance of becoming the next Widnes SuperLeague coach and so this decision is a massive disappointment to me' - Who gave him that impression, the owner?
'I still wanted to stay at the club but there was no negotiation' - Did the club really want him to stay?
'The club told me they could no longer afford to pay me full time wages - but I've got a family to look after'
PC Comments
'We've been considering changes since day one as it obviously wasn't working and so we've brought in Mick Cassidy and he will add alot' - Does this mean it wasn't working againts Toulouse when we won 70 - 0?
AB Comments
'The reduced hours role was offered to John who wrote to the club stating that he formally rejected the offer' - Surely if he has a contract and has been told that he is the next Head Coach, then to be told there is only a part time deal available, he has every right to be vexed off and reject the 'offer'?
Something just doesn't sound right.
For my money, Cullen has seen JS as a threat from day one, and had plans to get rid. The club seem to have been bluffed, and done a complete reversal on what STEVE O'CONNOR said in match notes about 'John Stankevitch having a long term future at the club'.
I don't mind admitting that I know JS, and I'm gutted for the lad. Think he has been well and truly poop on!
