If not how many did they think were there?

Think Widnes had about 4 or 500 scattered around, didnt look 3,000 plus IMO.

There must have been 2000 in the stand under the camera because there was barely 1000 in the stand opposite the camera and behing the sticks...

Ours was announced as just over two and a half but if there were more than 1500 there i would be suprised.
