I have it from a very good source that your hooker Smith is set to go to Barrow to replace Ellis who in turn is leaving for either Quins or Bradford. Looks like you aren't going to have much of a team left next year.

The same source that told me Halifax were signing Gene, Leigh were signing Duffy and RP and that you guys were getting Coyle. He told me this several weeks ago. There is a transfer fee involved in the Smith switch apparently.

The big man himself was asked recently if he was leaving and his response was that there was no chance..

Besides Barrow couldn't afford him and remain under the cap. Between him and Rooney half the cap would be used up on two players...

What makes you think that Barrow are under the cap at the moment?

Allegedly, Its far to easy to get around the cap these days when you have a chairman who owns his own company, after all the players have to have a day job don't they?

As it happens I don't. But there more players they sign the more conspicuous it looks.

I agree. It will be interesting to see if anything happens if they are breaking the salary cap and get found out. According to the RFL's rules they would be banned from entering a license application but I think the RFL do want a Cumbrian team in SL.

As for Smithy's signing, Ellis will be on a few bucks and apparently Lulesi (sp) is off to Quins as well. That should free up some space.
