Anthony Thackeray was named Championship Player of the Year by Rugby League World Magazine.

"He might have been a shock omission from the official Championship team of the year, but Anthony Thackeray's form over the season saw him top our ratings. The stand off or scrum half has been the Vikings' talisman and the club pulled out all the stops to keep him, with a new contract funded by supporters' group VIQI. Thackeray's improved organisational skills, eye for a gap and superb finishing have been features of the Championship all year."

Congrats Thacks and well deserved IMO! Is a better balanced team then the co-op one you have to say!

I think that's well deserved. Is Taylor, James Taylor? If so I'm glad too.

Cant think of any others of the top of my head Dave so i think it is James, i do find it a little odd that they have 2 wingers as centres though and one didnt play half the year but its more balanced than the other one.

Quality player. Deserves some recognition that's for sure.

Always causes us numerous problems when we play you lot. He is a class act, well deserved.

I knew it must be a joke when Beswick is in and Royston isnt.

Is this a stats-based team? Can't think of many other players in this league who can so easily break the line, never mind score the amount of tries he does from second receiver.

He's certainly a player I'm glad we pulled out the stops to keep hold of.
