Hardly seems fur As the first side to probably play against the Warrington Wolfs.. will we cop for this because you can bet your bottom dollar there will be some flak from our fans. Cannot for the life of me see how this is comparable to the abuse that Thomas received.

But I agree, comparing Gareth Thomas' homophobic abuse to the taunts at man who open let a dog fellate him is ridiculous. Monaghan should have been locked up for being such a perv.

Clubs will be fined for abusive chanting of any kind. Those have been the rules for years.
As for Monaghan, I thought the chants would have been of the humorous variety.
Abusive chanting and foul language is just plain wrong.
Humorous chants will get everyone laughing everytime they are sung.
Smith is right. Probably not in the way he was thinking though!

How do you define abusive in contrast to humorous in this case though? There is no fine line as far as I'm concerned, they are one and the same. Smith knows what is going to get chanted at every stadium in the country, and quite frankly, he should expect it. You sign a player like Monaghan, that's what you have to expect. He left his country because of the fallout over what he did and should take a bit of banter on the chin. Singing "how much is that doggy in the window" at a player in this position does not consitute abuse and I fail to see what the fans are going to chant which is any worse than that.

Oh he is going to get it. He is going to get it and he is a wire now so he is fair game.

To be fair, we haven't seen Gareth Thomas' boyfriend...........

So when the Hull clubs sing 'shoot the FC / Rovers scum' at every game next season, are they both subject to fines every week? Common sense needs to be applied.

Warrington saw chow he was hounded out of the game in Australia before they pooched him, that surely should have given the club some pointer as to how crowds would react to him rover here. However I'm sure dachshund of loads of husky opposing fans spitzing bile will not be enough to put him off and he'll take it on the chin and not get too mudi.
