Fair play mate, wasn't having a pop just not my cup of tea.
Well, I suppose the Liam Gallagher Manc has been done to death by Soccer am, but the fact the lad playing the Scouser has taken it upon himself to look more Scouse, by wearing a blonde wig and painting his cheeks red, I found very funny. I don’t know why he thinks that makes him look more like a Scouser, but at least he never went for the tired old shell suit and perm-wig gag.
Instead of just taking the mickey out of the Widnes accent, they used both pure Manc and Scouse as a metaphor for the mishmash nature of the Widnes accent. Personally, I think that the Widnes accent owes very little to the Manc accent and only has a passing resemblance to Scouse. It mostly comes from our northern boarders. It should really have been a St Helener and a Scouser, but that wouldn’t have provided the comic yin and yang of the Scouse-Manc approach.
The whole thing wasn’t funny, but certain bits were, imo.
