Could widnes the team at present beat the wakefield team, i think we could pull it of after all we nearly beat crusaders !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ive not saw the Wakefield squad. I guess its mostly youngsters now. (i know Obst and two others have gone.)

Quite simply NO!

They are a Superleague team missing a handful of their squad - we are a part time Championship side. If they lose many more though it would be a close run thing.

Let’s just concentrate on trying to beat teams in the league we are actually in.

Turning the question around slightly... Would that side be completely dominant in Championship? I think not, especially considering on SL money! Probably every other SL side would be clear best by a distance!

I answered the thread. I said no.

No need to be quite so touchy. I just see no point at all in this. I have no doubt that we would lack the quality, at present, to be anything other than easy beats in Super League. Wakey may not be much better – so what?

It’s being better than the best in this league which matters. We are not in SL. Enjoy this season where we are and worry about how good we could be in SL, should we get there.

Fair enough i apologise mate .Maybe ur right,was just wondering the fact, was it the case that they would of asked us to step up could we have made the transition,Ie player going full time

I’m not so sure that that was ever going to be an option. Once it was known that Wakey had a serious buyer, the RFL would have ensured that Wakey competed in SL this season. It would have been a total embarrassment for them to come cap in hand to Widnes after they turned us down last time. It would show just what a joke the last round of licencing was.

There is no way, full-time training or not, that this current Widnes team could compete with anyone in SL, imo.
